Members
Three different types of members make up police authorities - elected, independent and magistrate. In Greater Manchester, 10 members are elected and each one represents a different Greater Manchester council. This contributes to ensuring that the people who make up the authority are representative of local communities. The other 9 are independent members, one of which is a magistrate.
