GMPA is made up of 19 local people. The majority of other police authorities are made up of 17.
Police authorities are made up of councillors, magistrates & independent members, the latter selected using a recruitment process.
GMPA sets the police portion of the council tax bill.
Police authorities ensure police forces provide an efficient and effective service.
GMPA holds the Chief Constable of GMP to account.

GMPA Committees

The full police authority meets regularly throughout the year. In addition to this, members also sit on smaller committees which meet regularly and focus on particular areas of work. All of these meetings are open to the public.
