- Police authorities are made up of councillors, magistrates & independent members, the latter selected using a recruitment process.
- GMPA sets the police portion of the council tax bill.
- Police authorities ensure police forces provide an efficient and effective service.
- GMPA holds the Chief Constable of GMP to account.
