GMPA is made up of 19 local people. The majority of other police authorities are made up of 17.
Police authorities are made up of councillors, magistrates & independent members, the latter selected using a recruitment process.
GMPA sets the police portion of the council tax bill.
Police authorities ensure police forces provide an efficient and effective service.
GMPA holds the Chief Constable of GMP to account.

Complaints and Professional Standards Committee

The Complaints and Professional Standards Committee meets quarterly to monitor the number, and type of complaints received by GMP and to identify and question any emerging trends.
