Making a complaint

To make a complaint about Greater Manchester Police Authority members, police authority staff, or chief officers of Greater Manchester Police, please put your complaint in writing to the GMPA executive director, Russell Bernstein.

If you wish to make a complaint about the actions of the police authority as a whole, you can do so by contacting the Local Government Ombudsman on 0845 602 1983. If your complaint is about the actions of police authority staff, however, you should first contact Russell using the details above.

Complaints about Greater Manchester Police

With regards to complaints about Greater Manchester Police officers, GMPA only handles complaints concerning chief officers. For example, chief constable, deputy chief constable, and assistant chief constables.

To make a complaint about the police, other than chief officers, please visit the Greater Manchester Police complaints web page or email complaints@gmp.police.uk. You can also visit the Independent Police Complaints Commission's website for more information.
