Equality training and awareness

We have a firm commitment to providing learning and training opportunities to staff, volunteers, and members, and we've capitalised on this with regards to teaching people more about human rights, the equality act, and our authority's specific responsibilities in relation to equalities legislation.

As well as internal lunchtime learning sessions for officers, our members have received training from the Equality and Human Rights Commission.

Our policy development manager works closely with other North West police authorities to make sure that, in relation to equalities work, GMPA is learning from others, contributing to best practice, and exceeding standards where possible.

Our independent custody visitor volunteers are given training on human rights issues and checklists to help them pick up on the important issues. The training course is six sessions covering things such as:
