CONFERENCES KEEP ON COMING
Two GMPA conferences have taken place in as many weeks and there are still more to come. On Saturday October 11, the first ever North West Regional Independent Custody Visitors Conference was held at The De Vere Hotel at the Bolton Reebok Stadium. More than 100 volunteers from Greater Manchester, Cumbria, Cheshire, Lancashire and Merseyside attended. The day's agenda included presentations by guest speakers from GMPA's Counter Terrorism Unit and experts in the field of diversity and equality.
On Tuesday October 14, the conference run continued with GMPA Engagement Team's Counter Terrorism (CT) Conference. It was staged to mark the launch of the team's 18-month CT consultation project which will see community groups across Greater Manchester asked for their views on important issues such as culture, identity, faith and preventing violent extremism. The project also involves the creation of a DVD learning resource. A team of young people are working on creating the DVD.
