Victims of crime are often the most vulnerable and need reassurance that the police will investigate the crime to the best of their ability and, importantly, keep them updated as to the progress of the case.
Getting this right first time is vital and improving victim satisfaction across Greater Manchester is a key focus of improvement for Greater Manchester Police and the Police Authority.
Greater Manchester Police Authority's scrutiny review of victim satisfaction highlights a number of recommendations that are now being implemented by Greater Manchester Police.
These include:
Ensuring that all staff and officers are aware of the expectations and principles in relation to staff behaviour and customer service.
Making sure that all training and briefings in relation to customer service emphasises the key things that need to be done to provide a good service to and the importance of maintaining contact with victims.
Working more closely with other agencies, such as victim support, to ensure contact with victims is focused and coordinated.
Review of the training given to staff and officers working in Customer Service Desks, taking into account the views and ideas of postholders.
